Holliday Grainger, Olivia Hallinan, Emily Taaffe and Paul McGann star in Southwark Three Sisters
Holliday Grainger, Olivia Hallinan, Emily Taaffe and Paul McGann will star in a new production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters at Southwark Playhouse in April.
The production comes from the same team – producers Jagged Fence Productions and director Russell Bolam – behind 2012′s The Seagull, and is co-produced by Danielle Tarento, producer of the WhatsOnStage Award-winning Titanic at the same venue.
Three Sisters, which has been “reworked for the 21st century” by playwright Anya Reiss, will run in The Large at Southwark Playhouse from 8 April to 3 May 2014 (previews from 3 April).
Holliday Grainger (Irina) last appeared on stage in London at the Donmar Warehouse in Douglas Hodge’s production of Athol Fugard’s Dimetos. On screen she is known for Jane Eyre, The Borgias and Anna Karenina.
Olivia Hallinan (Olga) is best known as Laura Timmins in all four series of the BBC TV series Lark Rise to Candleford. On stage she has appeared in Precious Little Talent at Trafalgar Studios and Herding Cats at Hampstead Theatre.
Emily Taaffe (Masha) has played Miranda in The Tempest, Viola in Twelfth Night and Luciana in The Comedy of Errors, all for the RSC, while other credits include The Cherry Orchard, The King James Bible and The Veil all at the National Theatre.
Paul McGann (Vershinin) is best known for his starring role in cult classic film Withnail & I. On stage, he most recently co-starred with Dominic West in Simon Gray’s Butley at the Duchess.
The rest of the cast are David Carlyle (Tusenbach), Emily Dobbs (Natasha), Michael Garner (Chebutykin), Dudley Rogers (Ferapont), Tom Ross-Williams (Kulygin), Joe Sims (Solyony), Jane Thorne (Anfisa) and Thom Tuck (Andrey).
